T Boone Pickens With a Plan

Image via WikipediaWe all know the cost of gasoline. It keeps going up the same way our medical insurance cost keep going up. It seems that there is no end in sight for these costs to stop from going up simply because there are no real alternatives. If you want to move around you need transportation that needs to fuel in form of gasoline to function. Same is true for medical costs if some one gets sick he/she has no choice except to go through the extremely convoluted health care system to get the treatment he/she needs.

It is the older people who finally are speaking up and telling people to do something who have become extremely dependent on the system to take care of them. Warren Buffet age 78 has been extremely outspoken about our financial irresponsibility and the banking crises we are in. Same is true of Lee Iacocca age 84, former chairman of Chrysler corporation who wrote "Where have all the leaders gone". Now an old oilmen T. Boone Pickens in his 80's speaking up to do some thing about energy crisis we are going through, that is likely to get worse in the near future before it gets better.

He has a plan.

It is not only that he is urging people to do something he is also using Internet through Web 2.0 tools and technologies that support communication/collaboration among people to mobilize people to a cause that will benefit them by lowering the energy cost.

I am sure there are other web 2.0 tools that he is using and I have missed. It is just amazing that at his age of 80 he is willing to utilize all the tools at his disposal to quickly communicate his message and get people to collaborate at the Internet speed.

It is about time that people take responsibility for their own welfare instead looking unto some body who may or may not be there to help them when they need it.

This is the example of capitalism at its best where technology provides solution to a problem, makes living better for everyone all around and provides opportunity to the entrepreneurs to make money out of the windfall that occurs as a result of the change in the energy usage pattern of the people.
