Jon Stewart on Economic Stimulus

Cover of "Market Forces"Cover of Market Forces

There is a fundamental disagreement between the democrats and republicans on how to tackle the current economic melt down. For most part democrats believe in the Keneysian interventionist approach for solving the problem. The Republicans also believe in the same approach but disagree on the government intervention. They believe that the market forces should be able to solve the problem on its own while government acting as a fair referee. Some of the republican governors are willing to forgo the federal stimulus money. In this video Jon Stewart shows that they are still getting some money from the package.

The republican governor are trying to appear conservative and fiscally responsible.

MIT Geek Attempt to Appear Cool

MIT is a premier institution for Science and Technology education. An area that primarily evokes the images of classic nerds and geeks. The video below tries to dispel this myth. It is an attempt to show that MIT education incorporates other aspects of education including
humanities and athletics.

These attempts of the image make over are worthwhile but inadequate. Even the way the video was made shows that MIT is primarily an environment for science and Engineering education. Other subjects appear to be bolted on to the already a curriculum that is heavily oriented towards Engineering subjects. It is great education and teaches students how to plan and engineer systems. However, the students who learn how to engineer the humans mostly do better then the student who learn how to plan the Engineering systems.
