Google Search Results for Queries Related to Information

We use information all the time. In fact we are drowning in information. In the past we used Library of Congress catalog system to categorize most of our known information. The system worked well till we developed Internet, a vast repository of information that does not come with a nice cataloging system.

Web search Engines like Google try to provide a helping hand in finding information on the Internet based upon the user selected queries. Most of the time Google provides more information than is needed or lots of information that is not relevant even after careful selection of keywords.

Here are results from queries related to "information", "influence" and its spread through networks.

It shows that generic keywords can provide large number of documents in millions showing Google's ability of indexing large number of available web pages. However, most of these documents are overkill for someone who is looking for some relevant information.

On the other hand a relevant keyword phrase "how influence spreads in social network" and many useful keyword phrases do not provide any results.

We need more work in the area of meta information to know about information, its properties and how it propagates and influences us.
