That is what the workers always considered was the problem at the car companies. They thought there were far too many salaried employees and it was always the hourly employees who were laid off.
heard an interview on CBC this morning with a worker at the Oshawa GM plant. He said that workers always get the blame - but - they only represent 7% of the total cost of the car.
I would have guessed much higher - since it is "common knowledge" that the high prices are a result of unions getting far too many benefits for their members. hmmm maybe someone else is responsible for the high prices.
